ABB Ltd. mit Sitz in Zürich, fusionierten 1988 aus ASEA und BBC.

Advantra International mit Sitz in Belgien. Gegründet aus Page+ und Acyclon Electronics produzierte Advantra im Jahr 1997 120.000 Pager bei einem Umsatz von 10 Millionen US-Dollar. Advantra übernahm 1999 die Pager-Sparte von Philips (Jahresproduktion 1998: 1,2Millionen Pager). Mit der übernahme wollte Advantra viertgrößter Pager Produzent der Welt werden. Dementsprechend sollte die Entwicklung in Cambridge, England und die Produktion in Mexico und Belgien stattfinden. Das Werk in Mexico sollte dabei 85Prozent der Gesamtproduktion bereitstellen.

Ein Nebeneffekt durch die Übernahme war der Übergang der FLEX Lizenzen von Philips an Advantra. So stellte Advantra ihren ersten FLEX basierten Pager bereits im November 1999 vor, den Playa.

"Advantra International has launched the Playa, a Flex pager which offers Automatic Data play (ADP), enabling messages to be played as a melody with as many six unique user-defined melody IDs. The pager also has a message counter, allowing operators and promoters to offer loyalty schemes. The unit has a backlit display of 16-digits, weigh 35 g and can store up to 30 messages."

Bosch verkaufte im Jahre 1996 seine Funktechniksparte an Motorola. Die seit 1954 teil der Boschfirmenbereiche war. Im Jahre kaufte Bosch dann noch ANT auf.
